Today, Partners for College Affordability and Public Trust released the following statement in response to the decision by the Norfolk State University Board of Visitors to approve a budget that freezes tuition and mandatory E&G fees for all undergraduate students. This decision follows action by state lawmakers to allocate an additional $52.5 million for tuition moderation at Virginia's public colleges and universities, including $971,000 for Norfolk State University.
“By freezing in-state tuition this year, the Norfolk State University Board has taken a significant step towards making a college education more affordable for students," said Partners' president Dr. James Toscano. "Thanks to a collaborative effort by state lawmakers and college administrators, students and families have been given some much needed breathing room from rising tuition as we all work together to create long-term solutions."
