Partners responds to UVA board decision to roll back planned tuition increase

Today, Partners for College Affordability and Public Trust released the following statement in response to the decision by the executive board of the University of Virginia's Board of Visitors to roll back a previously approved 2.9 percent increase in in-state tuition in response to new state funding allocated by the General Assembly for tuition moderation.

"The decision to roll back their planned tuition hike is undoubtedly exciting news for UVA students, rivaled only by their recent national championship," said Stacie Gordon, Partners' state advocacy manager. "Thanks to the joint efforts of the General Assembly and the UVA board, students have been given some much needed breathing room from rising tuition. Moving forward, it is up to both institutional leadership and state lawmakers alike to take substantive action to provide students and their families with more permanent solutions."
